Mill Creek Interceptor Improvements – Phase II

Project Description

Hawkins-Weir was contracted by the City of Fort Smith for the design and construction management of the Mill Creek Interceptor Improvements – Phase II. The purpose of the project is for capacity related improvements to assist in the elimination of sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) during heavy rainfall events. The Mill Creek Interceptor Improvements – Phase II includes the installation of over 8,100 feet of sanitary sewer lines consisting primarily of 24-inch, 30-inch, and 36-inch diameter pipe. This project also includes approximately 300 feet of dry bore steel encasement pipe ranging from 36-inch to 54-inch in diameter, 300 feet of fused PVC carrier pipe, 40 sewer manholes, and over 4,000 cubic yards of rock excavation. The project was built for 5% less than the original contract bid price.
