Project Description

The City of Fort Smith requested assistance from Hawkins-Weir in updating the City Bikeway Plan. The study included combining the existing Bikeway Plan and the Trails and Greenways Master Plan. The study also included evaluating the overall connectivity between bikeways, trails and greenways. Hawkins-Weir also evaluated the four classifications of bikeways and provided advantages and disadvantages, as well as cost estimates for each type. Multiple public meetings were held to obtain input from the citizens of Fort Smith on the preferred bikeway classification and locations. Hawkins-Weir evaluated recommendations from the Trails and Greenways Committee and the public comments and provided recommendations to the City of Fort Smith on modifications to the Trails and Greenways Map.
