This project involved the repair of Rock Creek Bridge. In April of 2008, heavy rains resulted in irreparable structural damage to the east bridge abutment and erosion of a section of roadway. Following a preliminary structural inspection, it was recommended that the bridge be closed for safety reasons. Hawkins-Weir assisted Crawford County, Arkansas in the development of a Structural Assessment Report, preparation of a successful funding application to FEMA (87.5% FEMA Grant, 12.5% Local Funds), the design and contract administration for the replacement of the east bridge abutment, and reinstallation of the bridge superstructure and roadway surfaces. Rock Creek Bridge was re-opened six (6) months following its closure.
