Pointer Trail East Bridge

Project Description

The Pointer Trail East Bridge Project near Van Buren, Arkansas replaced the existing bridge over Flat Rock Creek. The project consisted of demolishing the existing bridge superstructure and center support, and constructing a new bridge with cast-in-place concrete abutments, center support pier, and a two-span precast concrete bridge deck measuring 62 feet in overall length. The existing rock headwall and wingwalls from the original structure were retained to stabilize each creek bank. Hawkins-Weir Engineers provided funding assistance, project design, construction observation, and construction management services for the project. Project funding consisted of 50% grant funds as administered by the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management’s Hazard Mitigation Program, and 50% local funds provided by Crawford County and the City of Van Buren, Arkansas.
