Van Buren 2015 Street Improvements - Phase I

Project Description

Using proceeds from the city portion of the Crawford County sales tax, the City of Van Buren, Arkansas identified five streets for the 2015 Van Buren Street Improvements Project. The City selected Hawkins-Weir to provide engineering design and inspection services for the project, and following approval of the preliminary designs, the overall project was split into two phases for bidding and construction purposes. The Phase I project included a total of 8,500 linear-feet of pavement repairs and surface patching on Northridge Drive from Highland Circle to Arkansas State Highway 59; Poplar Street from Fayetteville Road to North 20th Street; and Alma Boulevard from North 20th Street to North 28th Street. Phase I also included minor drainage improvements such as new concrete drainage swales, concrete curb replacement, and storm drainage pipe extensions. Following milling of the pavement surfaces, each street received a new hot mix asphalt overlay and traffic control striping. Phase II of the project, for portions of North 9th and North 20th Streets, will be scheduled for bidding and construction at a later date.
