Although it is hard for some to believe, there are areas in the great State of Arkansas that do not have access to potable water service. Sixteen (16) homes with failing wells, located along Country Heights Drive in Franklin County, Arkansas, is one of these areas. Hawkins-Weir Engineers, Inc. (HW) assisted the RiverSouth Rural Water District with the preparation of engineering documents and funding applications through the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) and were successful in procuring approximately 75% of the project cost with grant funds. The project consisted of 2,800 feet of 4-inch diameter water line and the boring and jacking of State Highway 215. HW provided project design services, critical phase construction observation, and construction management services.
