Rackley Mountain Water Line Extension

Project Description

This project expands the Mountainburg water distribution system along Rackley Mountain Road, Doyel Road, Sharp Drive, LaRue Road, and Chester Cutoff Road. This project included the construction of approximately 16 miles of 6-inch, 4-inch, and 3-inch water lines, two (2) water pump stations, and a 100,000-gallon water storage standpipe. The project added 115 customers to the Mountainburg water distribution system and was designed with the capacity for future expansion into rural Crawford County, Arkansas. These customers either hauled their water for potable water consumption, or depended upon individual groundwater well supplies that were inadequate in quantity, water quality, or both. Hawkins-Weir Engineers provided preliminary engineering, funding assistance, project design, construction observations, and construction management services for the project. Project funding was provided by Arkansas Economic Development Commission grant funds as administered by the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, and by USDA Rural Development loan funds.
