Cemetery Road Bridge Improvements

Project Description

Our children’s safety is one of the utmost priority. A bus route includes crossing the Cemetery Road Bridge, a single lane bridge with substandard guard rails. After several close calls during inclement weather, the City of Dyer, Arkansas made it a priority to replace the bridge. In order to provide project funding, Hawkins-Weir developed a conceptual plan and cost estimate and assisted the City with making application for funding. The City was awarded a 50/50 matching grant through the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management. The project included the demolition of the existing bridge and bridge abutments, and the construction of two 8-foot x 5-foot box culverts, rock gabion basket wing walls, guardrail, asphalt roadway improvements, and signage.
