Van Buren Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation

Project Description

The Van Buren Municipal Utility Department needed upgrades to several of their aging gravity sewer lines in various locations throughout the City. These existing gravity sewers were plagued with root infiltration at the pipe joints and service connections, as well as numerous failing sections of pipe. Hawkins-Weir Engineers was tasked with design of a low impact gravity sewer line replacement for these sewers that were primarily in fully developed residential neighborhoods. The design incorporated trenchless construction methods utilizing pipe bursting and/or pipe reaming techniques. The end product of a very successful project were minor impacts to the property owners requiring minimal site restoration, and providing for some additional sewer line capacity by upsizing the gravity lines, and reduction of inflow & infiltration of surface and ground water. Hawkins-Weir Engineers provided a complete turnkey solution for the Van Buren Municipal Utilities by providing the surveying, design, permitting, easement preparation, bidding services, and construction management & inspection of the project.
