In 2002, the Fort Smith Regional Airport opened a new airport terminal complex in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In order to expand services for airline travelers at the new terminal, the Fort Smith Airport Commission selected a project team led by Hawkins-Weir to design a 4,000 square-foot rental car service center and a 228 parking-space-expansion of the short and long-term parking facility located adjacent to the airport terminal. Hawkins-Weir provided overall project management, civil-site design of the concrete parking lot and access drive improvements, structural design of the service center building, and construction management administration. MAHG Architects provided architectural services on the design of the rental car service center, with mechanical design services by Hathaway Symonds, and electrical and lighting design by McBrayer Engineering.
