Fourche Creek WWTP Primary Digester Restoration

Project Description

A primary digester at Little Rock Wastewater’s Fourche Creek WWTP suffered significant structural and mechanical damage and had to be removed from service. Understanding the limitations that the loss of this vital unit placed on the treatment plant, Hawkins-Weir Engineers set an aggressive schedule to complete the restoration design in 3 months. The design included demolition and replacement of the concrete cover and a new digester mixing system. To help the Contractor complete the work as safely and quickly as possible, Hawkins-Weir removed the guess work by incorporating a large percentage of the Contractor’s means and methods into the design and by providing a complete critical path construction schedule. In addition to design services, Hawkins-Weir Engineers assisted LRW coordinate with their insurance provider and provided construction administration services.
